I have always been fascinated by the process of pregnancy and childbirth and have wanted to be a Midwife since I was 14. I am from the UK where all pregnant women receive Midwifery care which is a little different from here in B.C. I trained and worked at a large regional hospital in the south of England caring for women with high risk pregnancies and complex social needs. I then moved to London to work at an inner city hospital with a hugely diverse population of clients.
As part of my training I organised an international placement with a Midwife in B.C. and had always thought of coming back one day. After two years in London, my partner Steve and I decided to move to British Columbia to experience life in another country. I joined Pacific Midwifery in 2010 and became a co-owner in 2013. I am also a clinical preceptor with the UBC midwifery program and often work with midwifery students who you may have the option to have involved in your care. I look forward to meeting new mums-to-be and their families.
